Recent media coverage secured for the AKC and AKC Reunite includes pieces from Good Morning America, New York Daily News and Jezebel about a disturbing “pet flipping" trend.
The Kenai Kennel Club made the news recently after hosting its annual dog show in Soldotna, Alaska. Hundreds of dogs competed in conformation, obedience, rally and agility and the Peninsula Clarion was on hand to take photos.
Special Attractions at a Dog Show Try inviting local radio or television personalities (such as weathermen) to broadcast live from your show site. If your mayor or councilman owns a purebred dog, name him “Honorary Chairperson” of your event and invite him to present the Best of Breed trophy for his breed. Have a petition drive for signatures in support of/or against any legislation your club might be working on. If your dog club is a member of the state federation of dog clubs, invite federation representatives to the show and promote their appearance to the media.
The American Kennel Club (AKC®) continues its long-standing commitment to advance the health and welfare of all dogs with the launch of its new program Bred with H.E.A.R.T. (Health, Education, Accountability, Responsibility and Tradition). Modeled after the successful Breeder of Merit program, Bred with H.E.A.R.T. is a new way to engage, encourage and recognize all breeders who meet specific health testing standards and who participate in continuing education.
