AKC announced this week the appointment of Dr. Jerry Klein to the new position of Chief Veterinary Officer. In this role, Dr. Klein will act as the AKC’s official spokesperson and policy leader surrounding the preexisting and enhanced health commitments of the AKC, and serve as the organization’s principle authority on canine health, veterinary policy and initiate relevant wellness campaigns. The new appointment was covered by multiple media outlets, including the Dallas Morning News, KFMB (San Diego) and AZ-TV 7 (Phoenix).

Clubs in the News
The Newtown Kennel Club recently hosted the inaugural Western CT Police K-9 Challenge, a fundraiser for the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) in Newtown, Connecticut. Teams from area Connecticut towns, the MTA K9 unit in New York City and the 928th Military Police Army National Guard tackled the obstacle course, apprehended suspects and demonstrated their obedience skills. News outlet The Hour, among other, covered the event.
