The AKC is pleased to announce that Whittier, California has been awarded the AKC’s Dog Friendly City Award in recognition of their support of responsible dog owners and breeders in the city. Whittier is only the second city to receive this prestigious honor.

Recently, fire departments in Maryland's Somerset and Worcester counties were provided with pet oxygen mask kits by the Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club Charitable Trust (SMKCCT). Wicomico County, Maryland fire stations will also be receiving additional kits to supplement those distributed earlier by the Trust.

The masks have already been pressed into service -- an unconscious dog in Wicomico County was revived with the kit after being rescued from a house fire.
